About Us#
Benjamin “Ben” Berry Henderson Sr. (1930–2020)#

Benjamin “Ben” Berry Henderson Sr. dedicated nearly twenty years to researching his maternal Berry family, building a comprehensive database of family member information that became the foundation of this site. Ben passed away on June 6, 2020, at the age of 90, but the work he started lives on through these pages and through the family researchers he brought together.
Ben’s first self-published book, Our Berrys in Frontier America, was published in 2012. His second book, Robert Berry Family Tree Index, remains available as a free download from the Books section, and we continue his request that you search the book for your ancestors and send us any corrections, additions, or deletions based on your own research. The revised and expanded edition, Our Berrys in Frontier America — Revised and Updated, added 60 additional pages of new findings. A complete digital edition is now available to read online in the Books section.
William Henderson#

Webmaster and fellow genealogical researcher. Ben and William worked together on the Berry research to further their knowledge of their shared heritage and contribute to the Berry family research effort.
Continuing the Work#
This site is now maintained by Aaron Henderson, Ben’s son, with support from family researchers across the country. What began as one man’s dedication to his Berry roots has grown into something larger, a shared effort spanning multiple states, family lines, and generations.
Over the years, dedicated researchers from the Mary Berry, Robert Jr., John, Joshua, Thomas, David, William, and Henry Berry lines have contributed records, photographs, corrections, and family stories. The site’s Y-DNA project has confirmed 14 participants across 6 of the 8 sons of Robert and Elizabeth Cate Berry, providing genetic proof of connections that documentary records alone could not establish.
Today, berrytree.org hosts 243 ancestor profiles, a 19-chapter digital book, century-by-century timelines, and an extensive collection of documents, marriage records, and photographs, all freely available to anyone tracing their Berry heritage.
