BERRY&lt;/strong&gt; was born 28 February 1874 in Palo, Linn County, Iowa to &lt;a href="https://berrytree.org/ancestors/harrisonberryiowa/"&gt;Harrison&lt;/a&gt; and Henrietta (Havens) Berry. &lt;!-- UNSOURCED --&gt; When Fred was four years old in 1878, his mother Henrietta died. According to the newspaper article in the Vinton Eagle: &amp;ldquo;Her husband was cutting a large tree down close to where they lived, when Henrietta attempted to go near where he was to tell him that she was going to a neighbors, having her babe in her arms and a little girl running along with her, when the tree fell, crushing her almost into a jelly, while remarkable as it may seem, the baby still lives, though probably fatally injured. &lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Harrison Berry&lt;/strong&gt; was born 31 May 1854 in Benton County, Iowa to &lt;a href="https://berrytree.org/ancestors/lewisberryohio/"&gt;Lewis&lt;/a&gt; and Eliza (Hayward) Berry. &lt;!-- UNSOURCED --&gt; He was named after his uncle Harrison Berry, the son of Joshua and Anna (Thorpe) Berry, the brother of his father Lewis. &lt;!-- UNSOURCED --&gt; He was the second child born to Lewis and Eliza, who were united in marriage on 18 March 1851 in Boone County, Indiana. Lewis and Eliza, along with Lewis&amp;rsquo;s parents &lt;a href="https://berrytree.org/ancestors/joshua-berry-ohio/"&gt;Joshua and Anna (Thorpe) Berry&lt;/a&gt; and Eliza&amp;rsquo;s father [Abijah Hayward] had moved from Indiana to Iowa prior to the birth of Harrison. They all engaged in farming in the Benton and Linn County, Iowa area.&lt;/p&gt;</description></item></channel></rss>
