Isaac Berry NC

Isaac Berry son of Robert And Elizabeth Cate Berry

Ancestors:

  1. Generation Robert and Mary Williamson Berry, Princess Anne County, Virginia.
  2.  Generation Robert and Elizabeth Cate Berry, Orange County, north Carolina

Marriages:

Isaac Berry (never married)

Isaac Berry was born in Orange County North Carolina cir 1766. This is the same year that his father built their new Fiddleton Plantation Home. Isaac may have been the first of the Berry children to be born in this new home. Apparently Isaac had some mental problems. This becomes evident from the will his father Robert Berry wrote on April 16, 1812. Isaac’s Inheritance In Roberts Will he appointed his son Henry to oversee Isaac’s legacy Robert Berry’s Complete Will. Henry and his Mother, Elizabeth Cate Berry were appointed co-administrators of Robert Berry’s Will.

After Robert died, Henry Berry did apparently assume the responsibility for Isaac. Isaac always showed up in Henry Berry’s census data until he died sometime after 1830.  Isaac Berry was not listed  in Henry Berry’s 1840 census.  Lidia Berry first appeared in the 1840 census living with Felix Wilson between her and Henry  Berry.  Lydia listed as head of household and had a daughter who was under 10 years old.

1840 Orange County, North Carolina Census.

Lydia Berry 1840

Felix Wilson was living on property that he and his Father, Samuel Wilson, had bought  from Thomas Person Berry and his brother, William Clarence Berry, on September 19th 1833 (Orange County NC deed Book 25, Page 431) This same land was bought from Henry Berry on November 23 1830 by William Clarence Berry and Thomas Person Berry, (Orange County NC Deed Book 24 Page 226). In the 1850 Person County, NC  census Lydia Berry, (age 35), and her daughter, Mary A.Berry,( age 18) were living with Joshua Cates (age 39) who listed as head of household. Lydia Berry lived with  Joshua Cates for the rest of her life. Due to the fact that Isaac Berry was not in the 1840 census and Lydia Berry first appeared in that same census living so close to Henry Berry it is my belief that Mary A. Berry was Isaac and Lydia Berry’s daughter. The are no marriage records to be found that supports this however.

I have researched Samuel Wilson’s family because he is my 4th great grandfather on the Wilson side of my family.

Henry Berry lived about ten more years after Isaac died. He listed in the Orange county 1850 Orange County NC census and died there 1855 leaving a will.

Isaac Berry lived in Orange County N. C. his entire Life

“ Isaac was listed in his Robert’s Census in 1800 and 1810
He was listed in Henry’s Census in 1820,and 1830”
